5s Step 2, Set in Order (Seiton)

The Set In Order step helps you modify your flow with a strong focus on efficiency. In this step, you will move and arrange equipment, tools, and other materials to "Straighten" the path. You will also label proper item locations, so that items may be returned to their proper place after each use.

When objects in the work flow have a well defined placement, accidents are less likely to occur. You should also take the opportunity to label any hazards that may exist in the work area. These might include:

• Trip & fall hazards
• Overhead clearance hazards
• Chemical hazards
• Sharps and pin-point hazards
• Lifting hazards
• Electrical hazards
• PPE requirements
